Pickles
Pickles provide a refreshing counterpoint to warm winter foods, and they’re easy to make — this time of year, possible ingredients include radishes, turnips, onions, carrots or cabbage.
Quick vinegar pickles can be ready to eat in a few hours. Try them out by thinly slicing a red onion and covering with lime juice. Let them sit on your counter until dinner and serve with roasted winter squash, an omelet or a burger.
